Why Big Oil Polluters Support Chris Coursey

With Supervisor Shirlee Zane’s 10-year record of leadership on climate protection and her service on the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) fighting against dirty polluters, it’s no surprise that San Ramon based Chevron Corporation, Ohio based Marathon Petroleum and Texas based Phillips 66 Oil have contributed $147,500 in support of her opponent, former Santa Rosa City councilman Chris Coursey. Check out their public filings at the bottom of this page, with redactions hiding their out-of-town headquarters.

Facts are facts.

  • Big Oil supports Chris Coursey to the tune of $147,500.00, see filings below.
  • More Petroleum dollars from Texas, Ohio and San Ramon, CA support Chris Coursey than ALL his local campaign contributions combined.
  • Outside Big Oil is flooding Sonoma County mailboxes with support pieces to buy this local election, see below.
  • Supervisor Shirlee Zane has been fighting Big Oil for a decade.

For a decade, Supervisor Zane has battled big polluters, fought against dirty oil and stopped irresponsible refineries from further aggravating our climate change crisis. She held big oil refineries accountable by championing Regulation 12 Rule 15 (the “Shirlee Rule”) which requires mandatory early reporting of pollutant/toxic air contaminants and greenhouse gas emission through BAAQMD approved third-party testing organizations. No wonder big oil refineries are fighting against Supervisor Zane and her outstanding record of being an advocate for clean air, clean water and climate protection. If Big Oil gets Supervisor Zane out of office, she'll automatically be removed from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District board.

Supervisor Zane has broad support from environmentalists, business, real estate, agricultural, public safety and labor groups, small business owners, local realtors, family farmers, peace officers, firefighters, and our local workforce. Her “special interests” are YOU.

Let's show Chevron Corporation, Marathon Petroleum and Phillips 66 that the residents of Sonoma County won't be persuaded by out-of-town dirty oil interests.

Stand up against Big Oil polluting dollars and re-elect Supervisor Shirlee Zane.

Public Filings below reveal hefty contributions from Coursey's supporters; Chevron Corporation, Marathon Petroleum and Phillips 66 Petroleum through the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office records below.
